Risks of hiring cash-deal roofers
Posted in Legality and PermitsThe Ontario Ministry of Labour launched a campaign starting in 2016 informing homeowners about the legal risks of hiring residential roofing contractors operating “under the table” cash deals. Homeowners may now be considered constructors and subject to obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act if they hire multiple contractors to work at the same time.
